The Criminal career in The Sims 4 offers a different experience for Sims who want to pursue a life of crime.
In this career, Sims become involved in various illegal activities, from hacking systems to committing theft to earn Simoleons and build a reputation in the criminal world.
After reaching a certain level, you can choose between two specializations: Oracle, a cybercriminal who relies on technology and hacking skills, or The Boss, a criminal leader who controls various operations from behind the scenes.
Each branch has different daily tasks, promotion requirements, work schedules, and rewards.
This guide covers both branches in detail, including salaries, work hours, daily tasks, promotion requirements, and rewards available at each career level.
Overview

The Criminal career has a somewhat unique progression path compared to most other careers. Sims start in a low-ranking position and gradually build their reputation until they reach a position of influence in the criminal world.
After reaching Level 5, you will be asked to choose one of the following specializations.
The Boss focuses on leadership within the criminal world. As the career level increases, Sims gain greater control over various illegal operations and eventually become the mastermind behind a major criminal organization.
Oracle focuses on cybercrime and technology. In addition to the Mischief skill, this branch relies heavily on the Programming skill for hacking and other digital operations.
Regardless of the chosen branch, the Criminal career offers significant earning potential. Although the salary is relatively low at the beginning, income increases substantially as Sims advance through the career.
Traits and Moods That Help the Criminal Career

Traits should be chosen based on the branch you intend to pursue, as each one has different skill requirements.
For The Boss, the primary focus is the Mischief skill. The Evil and Mean Traits are highly recommended because they make Sims enjoy mischievous and mean interactions, making it easier to develop Mischief.
Meanwhile, Oracle combines Mischief with Programming. The Genius Trait is a good choice because it helps Sims learn and improve Programming more quickly.
Traits that support social activities, such as Outgoing, are also useful for both branches because Sims still need to perform various interactions with other Sims to develop Mischief.
Recommended Moods
- Playful: The most effective mood for improving the Mischief skill.
- Focused: Very useful for learning Programming and completing computer-related activities.
Maintaining the appropriate mood before training skills or going to work can help speed up career progression.

Conclusion
The Criminal career offers two different gameplay experiences through The Boss and Oracle.
The Boss is better suited to Sims who enjoy social interactions, leadership, and developing Mischief and Handiness. Meanwhile, Oracle offers a gameplay style focused more on technology, hacking, and Programming.
Both branches have high earning potential, but their different daily tasks, skill requirements, and rewards give each one its own distinct character.
The Boss provides the experience of becoming a criminal mastermind who controls various illegal operations. In contrast, Oracle allows Sims to take on the role of a professional hacker, complete with the exclusive Oracle Robes reward.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on the type of gameplay you want for your Sim. If you want to lead the criminal world, choose The Boss. If you are more interested in cybercrime and technology, Oracle is the more suitable choice.
