Gray stops by the Beach Cafe to eat. Shortly afterward, you enter and are greeted by Kai.
Gray becomes a little defensive because you have seen him here before. He explains that Kai has been inviting him for a long time, so this time he is only stopping by to accept the invitation.
Kai explains that he wants to learn more about the culinary scene in Mineral Town. Gray is the only person in town he knows well enough to ask, so Kai asked him to try some new menu items.
Gray then says that he should get back to work, or his grandfather might think he is just wandering around. He says goodbye to you and Kai before returning to work.
After Gray leaves, Kai explains that he and Gray often chat when they are at the Inn.
