In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (SoS: FoMT), there are two types of marriage candidates: Normal and Special.
Normal candidates consist of six women and six men, while Special candidates consist of four characters: Harvest Goddess, Bon Vivant, Huang, and Kappa.
To marry a Normal candidate, you only need to focus on increasing their Love Points until their heart level reaches red.
Special candidates, however, have additional requirements. When you give the Harvest Goddess 20 gifts, she will ask who is special to you.

During this scene, you must choose your answer carefully. If you want to marry Kappa, choose Kappa. If you want to marry the Harvest Goddess, choose Harvest Goddess.
Do not choose another candidate, as this question only appears once during the Harvest Goddess offering cutscene.
After choosing your future spouse, you must fulfill all the marriage requirements. For more information, see the guides for Harvest Goddess or Kappa.
In addition, there are several general requirements for marrying a Normal candidate:
- Reach the Red Heart Level.
- View all of the candidate’s Heart Events.
- Upgrade your house to the Big House.
- Obtain a Big Bed.
- Give the Blue Feather to propose.
Keep in mind that none of the marriage candidates will help you manage your farm. Most candidates will live with you after marriage, and all of them can have children through the same mechanics.
The Harvest Goddess and Kappa, however, will not live with you. Huang returns to his home every night, while Bon Vivant will only stay at your house on certain days each season.
How to Increase Relationships

For all candidates, the first step is to increase their Love Points (LP). The easiest way to do this is by giving them gifts they like.
Keep in mind that every villager has Friendship Points (FP), represented by Music Note icons, and Love Points (LP), represented by Heart icons.
Giving gifts will increase FP and LP based on how much the character likes the gift. For more information, see the FP and LP guide.
Most marriage candidates display a heart icon on their conversation portrait when you interact with them. The same heart icon can also be found below the character’s name in the Relationships > Villager menu.
| Heart Color | Love Points |
|---|---|
| 🖤 Black Heart | 0 LP |
| 💜 Purple Heart | 10.000 LP |
| 💙 Blue Heart | 20.000 LP |
| 💚 Green Heart | 30.000 LP |
| 💛 Yellow Heart | 40.000 LP |
| 🧡 Orange Heart | 50.000 LP |
| ❤️ Red Heart | 60.000 LP |
To marry the person you love, your chosen partner must reach the Red Heart level.
Meanwhile, a candidate’s FP indicates how close you are to them. It is also a requirement for triggering Random Events related to that character.
Increasing Love Points is fairly simple. You only need to give each candidate one gift they like every day.
- Favorite
- +800 LP
- Loved
- +500 LP
- Liked
- +300 LP
- Neutral
- +100 LP
Talking to a candidate also grants +200 LP per day.
You can also have gifts wrapped at the General Store for 100 G per item. Wrapped gifts provide an additional LP bonus.
Giving a candidate their favorite gift on their birthday grants +4,000 LP, which is five times more than on a normal day.
Some candidates have an alternative birthday date if you choose the same birthday as theirs.
Love Points can also decrease if you give a candidate a gift they dislike.
In addition, if you do not interact with your chosen partner for one day, there is a 10% chance of losing -200 LP.
Bon Vivant, Kappa, Huang, and the Harvest Goddess have hidden LP values.
Although their LP is not displayed, they still gain LP when receiving gifts. However, you cannot see their current LP.
Increasing LP alone is not enough to marry them. You must also complete the next requirement: triggering the candidate’s Heart Events.
Heart Events

As Love Points increase, marriage candidates will trigger Heart Events at specific locations, on specific days, and at specific times. Each candidate has six Heart Events.
- Intro Event
- 0 LP or more
- Black Heart Event
- 5.000 LP or more
- Purple Heart Event
- 10.000 LP or more
- Blue Heart Event
- 20.000 LP or more
- Yellow Heart Event
- 40.000 LP or more
- Orange Heart Event
- 50.000 LP or more
After the Introduction Event, the next three Heart Events are triggered based on your current LP. Once you reach a certain heart level, you can visit the event location on the designated day and time.
Choosing a positive response grants +3,000 LP, while a negative response results in a penalty of -2,000 LP.
You can trigger more than one Heart Event in a single day. In addition, events triggered by moving from one outdoor area to another require you to travel on foot.
Riding a horse can prevent these Heart Events from triggering.
Unlike the other Heart Events, the Green Heart Event can be triggered anywhere and at any time as long as you are carrying a Preserved Flower to give to your chosen partner.
After receiving it, the candidate will visit your house to discuss your relationship.
Once you reach the Yellow and Orange Heart levels, you can trigger Heart Events related to expressing your intention to pursue a relationship with the candidate.
After triggering the Introduction Event through the Orange Heart Event, you cannot get married immediately. Several requirements must be fulfilled before you can propose to your chosen partner.
Requirements Before Marriage
As explained earlier, to marry your chosen candidate, you must have a Big Bed, Blue Feather, and an upgraded house.
Once all requirements have been fulfilled, you can proceed to the final Heart Event: the proposal.

First, your farmhouse must be upgraded twice to unlock access to the Big Bed.
Gotts will renovate both the exterior and interior of your house for the required cost and building materials.
The house upgrade process consists of two stages: Slightly Bigger House and Big House. Each renovation takes 3 days.
| Upgrade Type | Building Materials |
|---|---|
| Slightly Bigger House | 3.000 G 150 Lumber 50 Material Stone |
| Big House | 10.000 G 600 Lumber 250 Material Stone |
If you do not have enough building materials, you can purchase Lumber and Material Stone from the Workshop. Gotts sells each material for 50 G.
However, if you want to save money, you can also gather these materials in the wild using the required tools. Use an Axe to chop trees and stumps, and a Hammer to break rocks.

You also need to purchase a Big Bed. This bed is placed to the right of the existing bed inside your house, serving as a second sleeping space.
Gotts will start selling the Big Bed after your farmhouse has been upgraded to a Big House. It costs 10,000 G. The bed’s design and pattern cannot be changed.

The final item required for marriage is the Blue Feather. This item is used to propose to your chosen partner.
The Blue Feather is sold at the General Store for 1,000 G and becomes available after meeting one of the following requirements:
- Normal Candidates: Trigger the Orange Heart Event for at least one candidate.
- Special Candidates: Reach the Orange Heart level with at least one Special candidate.
You can only purchase one Blue Feather and marry only one candidate. Divorce is not available in the game.
The Blue Feather can be stored in the Tool Box.
Once all requirements have been fulfilled, you can propose to your chosen partner. The proposal can be made anytime and anywhere.
Proposing

To propose to someone, place the Blue Feather in your Rucksack and show it to your chosen candidate. For the Harvest Goddess and Kappa, use the Blue Feather while standing at the edge of the lake.
The outcome of the proposal depends on the following conditions:
| Condition | Description |
|---|---|
| Proposal accepted | The event will move to your house, where a formal Blue Feather exchange scene will take place. After a brief conversation, your fiancé(e) will leave the house. |
| Proposal rejected | Some marriage requirements have not yet been fulfilled. |
After your proposal is accepted, the wedding ceremony will be scheduled automatically.
The wedding will take place seven days after the proposal. For example, if you propose on Wednesday, the ceremony will take place on the following Wednesday.
If the wedding date coincides with a Festival, the ceremony will be postponed until the following day. However, the wedding can still take place on the same day as a villager’s birthday.
If you want to collect all seven rings, it is recommended that you delay your proposal until after the Starlight Night Festival on Winter 24.
Brandon, Cliff, Doctor, Gray, and Jennifer will only give you their rings if you spend the evening with them before proposing to your chosen candidate.
Some players have reported that Starlight Night rings can still be obtained after marriage, but they only become available once your child has grown up and the festival takes place again.
Therefore, whether you choose to obtain the rings before or after marriage depends on how long you intend to play the game.
After going through the lengthy process of getting married, you have finally reached the final stage: holding the wedding ceremony.
Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremony will begin in the morning on the scheduled date. All candidates hold their wedding ceremony at the Church.
Weddings with Normal candidates will be attended by villagers, while weddings with Special candidates will have a limited number of guests, such as Carter and the Nature Sprites.
After the ceremony ends, you will receive one of the seven rings.
You will return home after the ceremony. Your spouse will then ask whether you would like to be called by a nickname.
You can choose one of the available names or enter your own nickname. Afterward, you will begin the next day as an officially married couple.
Life After Marriage

After the wedding ceremony, several game systems will change, particularly birthdays and festivals.
Several mechanics in annual festivals will change after marriage.
| Festival | Perubahan |
|---|---|
| Valentine’s Day | Your spouse will place chocolate or cake in your Rucksack after you go to sleep. |
| White Day | Your spouse will place chocolate or cake in your Rucksack after you go to sleep. |
| Fireworks Festival | Your spouse will attend the festival with you at the beach. |
| Moonlight Night | Your spouse will wait at the summit of Mother’s Hill to watch the festival with you. |
| Pumpkin Jamboree | The festival will end with a dessert party in the evening. |
| Starlight Night | The festival will be celebrated inside your house with your spouse. |
After marriage, you can celebrate both your own birthday and your spouse’s birthday.
Enter your house between 6:00 PM and 12:00 AM. Your spouse will greet you and ask whether you know the meaning of that day.
If you answer correctly, your spouse will hold a simple dinner party, and you will receive +3,000 LP. However, giving a negative response will result in a penalty of -2,000 LP.
During the first birthday celebration after marriage, you will receive one of the seven rings.
Your wedding anniversary will also be celebrated every year. This event takes place in the morning when you wake up. Your spouse will once again ask you about the meaning of the day.
Giving the correct answer grants +3,000 LP, while giving the wrong answer results in a penalty of -2,000 LP.
In addition, your spouse will give you one of the following gifts: Amethyst, Diamond, Pink Diamond, Ruby, or Topaz.
On your 50th wedding anniversary, your spouse will give you a Villa located in the meadow near the summit of Mother’s Hill.
The Villa can be used as an overnight accommodation. The wall calendar inside contains one of the seven Truth Jewels, which can be collected to form the Truth Gem.
This event can only occur if you have not yet triggered pregnancy. If you do not talk to your spouse for 10 consecutive days, your spouse will refuse to get out of bed on the morning of the 11th day.
Your spouse will claim to be feeling unwell and hope that you do not notice their condition. This event will decrease your relationship by -2,000 LP. However, your spouse will recover the following day.
