When you were a child, you visited this farm while it was still well maintained.
After your grandfather passed away, the farm fell into disrepair and was later inherited by you so that it could be restored to its former glory.
Most of the farm consists of a 25 × 43 field used for growing crops and grass for livestock feed.
The field is covered with large rocks, weeds, and tree stumps. You must clear them using the Hammer and Axe. Some large rocks and tree stumps can only be destroyed with upgraded tools.
In addition to the field and the grazing areas for livestock and pets, the farm also has a pond that serves as a water source for refilling the Watering Can. You can also release fish that you have caught into the pond.
Preparing for Farming
Seeds can be planted after you till empty land using the Hoe. Each type of seed can only be planted during its designated season: Spring, Summer, or Autumn.
Seeds cannot be planted before their growing season begins. For example, Summer seeds cannot be planted on Spring 30.
In addition, all seasonal seeds and crops wither on the first day of the following season. No crops can grow during Winter, making it the ideal season to upgrade all of your tools.
The General Store and Huang’s Shop sell various types of seeds. Each bag of seeds can be planted in a 3 × 3 area. Seeds sold in shops do not have a Star Rank.
The General Store only sells seeds for the current season, while Huang’s Shop sells seeds for every season. Unused seed bags can be stored in the tool box.
After obtaining seeds, the next step is to prepare the field. Use the Hoe to till a 3 × 3 area. While tilling the soil, you have a chance to find coins (1 G), a Power Berry, and Moles.
Moles do not damage crops and appear only briefly after being dug up. If you react quickly, you can switch to the Hammer and hit the Mole before it burrows back into the ground.
The number of Moles you hit is recorded on the bookshelf. Every 100 Moles hit awards 1 Farm Degree point, up to a maximum of 100 points.
The next step is to water the seeds using the Watering Can. Crops only need to be watered once per day. Watering them more than once does not make them grow faster.
Crops also do not need to be watered when it is raining.
After several days, the crops will be ready for harvest. Some crops can only be harvested once, while others can be harvested repeatedly.
Crop Star Rank
The crops you grow have a Star Rank that affects their selling price. The higher a crop’s Star Rank, the higher its selling price. Flowers do not have a Star Rank.
The Star Rank of harvested crops is determined by your field level. Each time you harvest, the crop’s quality is selected randomly based on your current field level.
Starting in Year 2, Gotts will offer field upgrades at his workshop. Each year, the field can be upgraded to the next level by paying the required fee.

The higher your field level, the greater your chance of harvesting crops with a higher Star Rank.
Your grandfather’s farm starts at Field Level 1, where most crops are harvested with 1 Star, although there is still a chance of obtaining 2-Star crops.
After upgrading to Field Level 2, the field can still produce 1-Star and 2-Star crops, while also gaining a chance to produce 3-Star crops.
At Field Level 4, the field can begin producing 5-Star crops. Meanwhile, upgrading to Field Level 5 does not unlock a new Star Rank, but instead increases the chance of harvesting 5-Star crops.
Fodder Grass
The farm has a pasture area in the upper-left corner. The grass growing there can be harvested with the Sickle to produce Fodder for your livestock.
Chicken Feed is used to feed chickens and other poultry. It can be produced by placing Corn into the Watermill or the feed storage next to the poultry coop.
You can purchase Grass Seeds from the General Store for 500 G. You only need to plant one bag because the grass will spread on its own to empty tiles that are not occupied by lumber, rocks, or weeds.
Each morning, there is a 25% chance for the grass to spread to one adjacent empty tile.
Lumber can be used to control the direction in which grass spreads by limiting the available area.
Grass can spread only to empty tiles, so fences prevent it from spreading in a particular direction. Small rocks can also be used for the same purpose.
Tip: To speed up the spread of grass, buy several bags of Grass Seeds. Then plant them with spaces between each one rather than placing them next to each other.
Grass grows during Spring, Summer, and Autumn. When Winter begins, it becomes dormant and cannot be harvested.
Livestock can still be let outside during Winter, but they will not find any grass to eat.
When Spring arrives, dormant grass has a 70% chance of growing back.
Therefore, even if you want to harvest all of the grass before Winter, it is recommended to leave some in the pasture for the following Spring.
When harvesting Fodder Grass, you also have a chance to obtain colored weeds. The type of weed depends on the current season.
How to Keep Crops Growing Into the Next Season
You can take advantage of an in-game mechanic to keep crops growing into the next season.
This trick allows crops that can only be harvested once to remain available for harvest before they wither.
Meanwhile, crops that can be harvested repeatedly will continue to grow and produce throughout the season.
Preparation
On the 30th of the current growing season, do not harvest your crops. Leave them in the field as usual.
Before going to bed, reduce your STA to 0, then increase your FAT to around 95–99.
The facial expression icon turns blue when your FAT reaches around 80. Using tools after your STA has been depleted increases FAT by +1 before midnight or +2 after midnight.
In addition, Fatigue increases automatically by +3 FAT at 12:00 AM and +4 FAT between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM.

How to Perform the Trick
Stay awake until the game forces your character to sleep at 5:59 AM. If you already have the mysterious book from the Harvest Goddess, use it to pass the time until the season changes.
If you do not have it, simply wait outside your house until 5:59 AM.
When the game forces your character to sleep, your Fatigue is reduced by 5 FAT, but you immediately receive a +10 FAT penalty for intentionally staying awake.
The goal is to ensure that your FAT reaches 100 after both effects are applied, causing your character to collapse.
For example, if you have 93 FAT at 5:59 AM, it is first reduced to 88 FAT (93 − 5), then increased to 98 FAT. This is not enough to make your character collapse. Therefore, your FAT should be around 95–99 before the game forces your character to sleep.
Result
When your character wakes up at 6:00 AM on the 1st with 100 FAT, a fatigue event will occur, causing your character to spend the entire day at the Clinic.
You will return to the farm on the 2nd with full Stamina and your FAT reset.
Because the Clinic visit occurs before crops wither on the first day of the new season, the crops from the previous season will remain growing in the field.
