Vinnie is a talking vine plant who lives in Takakura’s house. He is very curious and extremely talkative. Befriending him can provide several benefits for farming.
This two-headed plant living in Takakura’s house can be unlocked in Year 2. If you befriend Vinnie, you can breed hybrid crops.
Vinnie is the only character in SoS AWL whose friendship level decreases if ignored.
Although he does not accept gifts, you can talk to him several times a day to keep his friendship level high so that he can continue producing hybrid crops.
How to Befriend Vinnie
If you work hard on the farm, Takakura will usually call you into his house during the second year. He will introduce you to this three-headed plant.
Takakura explains that while he was traveling to the city, someone slipped some plant seeds into his pocket. He then planted the seeds, and Vinnie grew from them.
Takakura asks for your opinion about the plant. If you choose to let him stay here, Vinnie will like you. However, if you choose otherwise, your Friendship with Vinnie will start from the beginning.
Regardless of your choice, he will remain in Takakura’s house. Therefore, we recommend accepting him.
Vinnie is very happy when someone talks to him. To befriend him, you simply need to keep talking to him until he talks about mixing crops.
How to Make Hybrid Crops
Vinnie will not offer to make hybrid crops if your friendship points with him are not high enough.
To increase your friendship points, you simply need to keep talking to him. When your friendship level is in the red zone, he will offer to make hybrid crops.
If you are interested, simply answer, “I’d like to mix some crops,” and Vinnie will ask you to provide two different fruits or vegetables to combine.
