If you want to raise livestock in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (SoS AWL), Fodder is an essential component for keeping your livestock healthy and preventing them from going hungry.
As feed for animals in the Barn, Fodder is hay consumed by the animals to fulfill their food needs and produce various types of animal products as usual.
Each type of animal requires a different amount of feed each day. Therefore, make sure to always fill the feed troughs so that all your livestock remain well-fed.
Hungry animals will become unhappy, and unhappy animals can produce lower-quality products. Avoid this by always providing enough feed.
How to Get Fodder
When you first play SoS AWL, Takakura will introduce you to your first cow, Normal Cow (Female), who lives in the Barn.
After naming her and being introduced to her by milking the cow, you can begin taking care of your livestock as usual, including feeding them.
Every animal you purchase will require a feeding spot in the Barn. The amount of food required each day varies depending on the species:
- All types of Cows require two portions of food each day.
- Sheep and Goats only require one portion of food each day.
This is where Fodder comes in. Fodder is hay that you can either purchase or produce from grass grown in the pasture to feed your livestock.
Growing Grass to Produce Fodder
The first way to obtain Fodder is by growing grass using fertilizer.
You can purchase fertilizer at Vesta Farm, then go to the pasture and plant it like seeds. The grass will grow and can be eaten by the animals when they graze outside.
You can also cut fully grown grass using a Sickle to turn it into Fodder.
After the grass is cut, the Fodder will automatically be stored in the silo in the Barn. The silo is located on the right side of the shed, near the entrance to the pasture.
After cutting the grass, you can go to the silo in the Barn to take Fodder and place it in the feed trough as usual.
Buying Fodder
If you want to focus more on other activities, such as farming, buying Fodder from the town is a more practical option.
Fodder costs 20 G per item through the Ledger. Select “Can Order”, then select Fodder. Like other items purchased through the Ledger, the order will be delivered to the Deposit Box the following day.
After that, you can store it in the Barn’s silo or carry it in your bag as a supply to feed your livestock whenever needed.
