Although the village in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (SoS AWL) looks small, it is home to many people.
In the villagers article we previously wrote, there are dozens of characters who live in Forgotten Valley.
You can interact with them to build friendships, and of course, this can influence your child’s interests and skills.
In addition, if you become good friends with them, most villagers will give you gifts such as records and other items.
In this guide, we will explain how the friendship system works, including the Bulletin Board requests they provide, as well as tips for becoming closer to them.
Tips for Building Relationships
Building relationships with villagers is quite easy. Although not every character will have an influence on you or your child, befriending them is enjoyable and makes the game world feel more alive.
If you open your shop at the location where Van sells his goods and a potential friend happens to visit, you can give them a 10% discount on anything they want to buy.
Giving a discount provides a small increase in FP. So, if you have unique items for sale, this is a good opportunity to increase their FP.
Another common way to make friends is by giving them gifts they like every day.
When giving gifts, items are divided into several categories: Favorites, Likes, and Dislikes.
Each character has their own preferences when receiving gifts. So, make sure to read our article on villager gift preferences to find out which items they like.
You can also give multiple gifts each day, as long as the items belong to different categories.
For example, if you have already given Molly a gift today and want to give her another one on the same day, the second gift must be a different type of item.
For example, your first gift could be a flower and the second could be Egg Soup.
This makes it easier to earn friendship points quickly. I often use this method when pursuing marriage candidates.
Getting Gifts from Villagers
As mentioned earlier, besides building friendships, you can also receive gifts from villagers once you become good friends with them.
Vinnie will offer to make hybrid crops or rare crops, while Chris will give you a record.
Other villagers will also give interesting gifts such as clothing, tool upgrades, and more.
These gifts can be obtained once their friendship points reach the maximum.
This means you have several seasons and years to build relationships with them before receiving their gifts, except for rewards from Bulletin Board requests.
You can complete special requests from villagers to obtain specific items such as the Alarm Clock, Toy Beach, books, and many others.
Besides obtaining these items, completing requests will also increase your friendship points.
Special requests are marked with flower-patterned paper and have a long time limit. Some requests do not have a time limit at all.
This is especially helpful because they often request difficult items that may take time to obtain, while their rewards cannot be obtained or purchased anywhere else. So, make the most of these opportunities.
