When you enter the laboratory, you find Daryl quietly chuckling to himself.
Curious, you approach him to find out what has the scientist in such a good mood. Daryl then turns around and asks what you want.
Response 1A: “Oh, nothing really.”
Daryl tells you to head home because he is about to begin an experiment that he believes will help advance his research. You then leave the laboratory.
Response 1B: “What’s got you so excited?”
Daryl explains that he has been researching lightning. According to his calculations, the energy from a single lightning strike could supply electricity to the entire valley for a full year.
Before attempting that, however, he wants to conduct a smaller-scale experiment to collect enough energy to power the valley for one month.
Daryl then shows you a metal box that serves as an energy storage unit.
He explains that the device will be used in the experiment, and you are welcome to watch the test firsthand. After that, Daryl flips the switch on the machine.
After the indicator lights blink a few times, Daryl excitedly says that the unit appears to have successfully collected energy and stored it in the device beneath his laboratory.
However, only moments later, a loud explosion erupts. The circuit breaker trips, causing every light in the laboratory to go out.
After restoring the lights, Daryl grumbles as he realizes that his energy storage unit still needs a few adjustments before the experiment can succeed.
