This guide explains how to care for poultry in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (SoS: FoMT), including how to obtain high-quality Eggs and Angora Fur.
The Coop is a default building and is available from the beginning of the game. It serves as the poultry house and can accommodate up to 4 animals. Its capacity can be increased by renovating the Coop at the Workshop.
The renovation requires 350 Lumber, 200 Material Stone, and 5,000 G. Once the renovation is complete, the Coop can accommodate up to 8 animals. Saibara will also begin selling the Mayonnaise Maker and Yarn Maker at the Forge.
Chickens and Angora Rabbits can be purchased from PoPoultry. Adult Chickens lay Eggs every day, while Angora Rabbits produce Angora Fur every five days.
There are two types of Chickens: Chicken and Brown Chicken. Both have the same function; the only difference is the color of their feathers.

Chickens must be fed every day, while Angora Rabbits continue to produce fur even if they are not fed.
Lillia sells Chicken Feed and Rabbit Feed for 10 G per bag. Each animal requires one bag of feed per day.
Storing and Producing Feed
Extra feed can be stored inside the Coop using the storage chute located on the back wall.
To add feed to the storage, select the feed from your rucksack, then press the Action button while standing in front of the storage chute. The board beside it displays the current stock of Chicken Feed and Rabbit Feed.
At the beginning of the game, the Water Mill can store up to 999 bags of feed. Gotts offers a Water Mill upgrade for 5,000 G, 300 Lumber, and 150 Material Stone, increasing its capacity to 9,999 bags of feed.
Feeding Animals
To feed your animals, take the feed from the storage, then place it in the feed bin or give it directly to the animal by pressing the Action button.
Feeding animals by hand is more effective for increasing Friendship Points.
Letting Animals Graze
Chickens and Angora Rabbits can be let outside during clear weather, so they do not need to be fed that day. Use the bell outside the Coop to let the animals out.
The animals must remain outside for at least 5 hours for the game to consider them fed. They will automatically return to the Coop at 8:00 PM.
Chickens and Angora Rabbits can also be allowed outside on clear days during Winter.
Chickens and Angora Rabbits are the easiest livestock animals to care for. When purchased from PoPoultry, both start with 0 hearts and have a maximum of 5 hearts. The more hearts they have, the higher the quality of the products they produce.
FP can be increased in the following ways:
- Talking to the animal.
- Feeding it by hand.
- Letting it stay outside the Coop for at least 5 hours.
Each of these actions grants +1 FP per day. Friendship Points (FP) that have been earned are never lost.
Unlike other livestock animals, Angora Rabbits cannot be brushed to increase FP.
Animals with more than 5 hearts can only be obtained through breeding. To learn how the friendship point system works, see the FP / LP Guide.
Chickens and Angora Rabbits must produce offspring in order to obtain animals with more than 5 hearts.
Chicken
To breed Chickens, place a Chicken Egg into the nesting box inside the Coop.
A Chick will hatch from the egg after 3 days. The Chick will have one more maximum heart than its parent and will start with 3 filled hearts.
After 7 days, the Chick will grow into an adult. You can then collect its Eggs and place one in the nesting box to hatch another Chick with an additional heart.
If all of your Chickens are the same color, the Chick will hatch with the same color as its parent. If you own both White and Brown Chickens, the Chick’s color will be chosen randomly between white and brown.
If you have both White and Brown Chickens, save your game before going to bed on the night before the egg hatches. If the Chick’s color is not the one you want, reload your save and sleep again for another chance at a different color.
A Chick’s maximum heart limit is determined when it hatches. If the parent is sold before the egg hatches, the Chick will have a maximum limit of only 6 hearts. Therefore, keep the parent on the farm until the egg hatches.
Angora Rabbit
Lillia sells the Rabbit Breeding Kit for 2,000 G each. The parent Rabbit must have fur before the kit can be used. In addition, the Coop must be upgraded to include a breeding pen.
The gestation period lasts 5 days if the Rabbit is fed every day. Each missed feeding extends the gestation period, up to a maximum of 10 days.
The birth will be postponed if it falls on a festival day and will take place on the day after the festival.
Growth
Breeding an animal with 10 hearts will produce offspring that also have 10 hearts.
Having a 10-heart Chicken also changes how newly purchased Chickens from PoPoultry produce offspring.
Lillia will continue to sell Chickens with a maximum of 5 hearts, but Chicks hatched from those Chickens will have a maximum of 10 hearts once you have successfully bred a Chicken to reach 10 hearts.
A Chick becomes an adult after 7 days.
Meanwhile, a baby Angora Rabbit grows into an adult after 10 days if it is fed every day. Each missed feeding extends its growth period, up to a maximum of 15 days.
Feed the baby Rabbit by hand to ensure that it is fed every day.
Chickens lay Eggs every morning as long as they were fed on the previous day. Chickens that are not fed will not lay Eggs.
Eggs can be sold directly, processed into Mayonnaise using the Mayonnaise Maker, or used as cooking ingredients.
In addition, Eggs can be given as gifts, thrown into the Hot Spring to make Spa-Boiled Eggs, eaten, or sold.
To obtain Angora Fur, shear an Angora Rabbit using the Clippers. Saibara will begin selling the Clippers at the Forge for 1,800 G one day after you purchase an animal that can be sheared.
Angora Rabbits regrow their fur every 5 days. Angora Fur can also be processed into Yarn using the Yarn Maker.

You can also unlock the X Egg recipe by cooking:
- 50 dishes that use Normal Eggs.
- 25 dishes that use Good Eggs.
- 10 dishes that use Excellent Eggs.
Tip: Once a Chicken’s egg quality increases, for example from Normal Egg to Good Egg, that Chicken will no longer produce Normal Eggs.
If you plan to unlock the X Egg recipe and want to avoid running out of the required Eggs, it is recommended to keep a stock of lower-quality Eggs in your refrigerator.
Alternatively, you can purchase a new Chicken from PoPoultry.
Livestock that you no longer want can be sold back to Lillia. The selling price depends on the quality of the products the animal produces.
