This guide covers how to care for poultry in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (SoS: FoMT), including how to obtain high-quality eggs and Angora Fur.
The Coop is a starting building that is available from the beginning of the game. It is used to house poultry and can accommodate up to 4 animals. Its capacity can be increased by renovating the Coop at the Workshop.
The renovation requires 350 Lumber, 200 Material Stone, and 5,000 G. Once the renovation is complete, the Coop can house up to 8 animals. Saibara will also begin selling the Mayonnaise Maker and Yarn Maker at the Forge.
Available Animals
Chickens and Angora Rabbits can be purchased from PoPoultry. Adult chickens produce eggs every day, while Angora Rabbits produce Angora Fur every 5 days.
There are two types of chickens: Chicken and Brown Chicken. Both have the same functions; the only difference is their feather color.

Poultry Care
After purchasing poultry, you can take care of them by providing feed, increasing their friendship levels, and breeding them so that chickens and Angora Rabbits can produce high-quality products.
Chickens must be fed every day, while Angora Rabbits can still produce fur even when they are not fed.
Lillia sells Chicken Feed and Rabbit Feed for 10 G per bag. Each animal requires one bag of feed per day.
Storing and Making Feed
Extra feed can be stored inside the Coop using the storage chute located on the back wall.
To add feed to the storage, select it from your Rucksack, then press the Action button while standing in front of the storage chute. The board next to it displays the amount of feed in stock.
At the beginning of the game, the Water Mill has a maximum capacity of 999 bags of feed. Gotts offers a Water Mill upgrade for 5,000 G, 300 Lumber, and 150 Material Stone, increasing its capacity to 9,999 bags of feed.
Feeding Animals
To feed your animals, take feed from the storage and place it in the feeding trough, or give it directly to a chicken or Angora Rabbit by pressing the Action button.
Feeding animals directly is more effective for increasing Friendship Points.
Letting Animals Outside
Chickens and Angora Rabbits can be let outside on sunny days, so they do not need to be fed again that day. Use the bell outside the Coop to let them out.
Animals must stay outside for at least 5 hours to be considered fed. They will automatically return to the Coop at 8:00 PM.
Chickens and Angora Rabbits can also be let outside on sunny days during Winter.
Chickens and Angora Rabbits are the easiest livestock to care for. When purchased from PoPoultry, both animals have 0 hearts, with a maximum of 5 hearts.
The more hearts an animal has, the higher the quality of its products.
Friendship Points can be increased in the following ways:
- Talking to the animal.
- Feeding it directly by hand.
- Letting the animal stay outside for at least 5 hours.
Each action provides +1 FP per day. Earned FP will not decrease.
Unlike other livestock, Angora Rabbits cannot be brushed to increase their FP.
Animals with more than 5 hearts can only be obtained through breeding. For more information on how Friendship Points work, see the FP / LP Guide.
Chickens and Angora Rabbits must have offspring to produce animals with more than 5 hearts.
Chickens
To breed chickens, place a chicken egg in the nesting box inside the Coop.
A chick will hatch from the egg after 3 days. The chick will have one more heart than its parent, with 3 hearts already filled.
After 7 days, the chick will grow into an adult chicken. You can then collect its eggs and place them in the nesting box to hatch another chick with additional hearts.
If you have chickens of the same color, the chick will grow into the same color as its parent. If you have both brown and white chickens, the chick’s color will be randomly selected between white and brown.
If you have a mix of brown and white chickens, save your game before going to bed on the night before the egg hatches. If the chick’s color is not what you want, reload your save and go to bed again to obtain a different color possibility.
A chick’s maximum number of hearts is determined when it hatches. If the parent is sold before the egg hatches, the chick will only have a maximum limit of 6 hearts.
Therefore, keep the parent on your farm until the egg hatches.
Angora Rabbits
Lillia sells the Rabbit Breeding Kit for 2,000 G per unit. The parent Rabbit must have fur for the kit to be used. In addition, the Coop must be upgraded to include a breeding area.
Pregnancy lasts 5 days if the Rabbit is fed every day. If feeding is missed for one day, the pregnancy period will increase, up to a maximum of 10 days.
Birth will be postponed if it falls on a festival day and will take place on the day after the festival.
Breeding an animal with 10 hearts will produce offspring that also have 10 hearts.
A chicken with 10 hearts will also change how chickens purchased from PoPoultry produce offspring.
Lillia continues to sell chickens with a maximum limit of 5 hearts, but chicks born from those parents will have a maximum limit of 10 hearts if you successfully breed a chicken to 10 hearts.
Chicks will grow into adults after 7 days.
Meanwhile, baby Angora Rabbits can grow into adults in 10 days if fed every day. If feeding is missed, the growth period will increase, up to a maximum of 15 days.
Feed baby Rabbits directly to ensure that they receive food every day.
Products
Chickens will produce eggs every morning if they were fed the previous day. Chickens that were not fed will not produce eggs.
Eggs can be sold directly, processed into Mayonnaise using the Mayonnaise Maker, or used as cooking ingredients.
Eggs can also be given as gifts, thrown into the Hot Spring to make a Spa-Boiled Egg, consumed, or sold.
To obtain Angora Fur, shear an Angora Rabbit using Clippers. Saibara will begin selling Clippers at the Forge for 1,800 G the day after you purchase livestock that can be sheared.
Angora Rabbits regrow their fur every 5 days. Angora Fur can also be processed into Yarn using the Yarn Maker.

You can also unlock the X Egg recipe. The recipe becomes available after cooking:
- 50 dishes that use Normal Eggs.
- 25 dishes that use Good Eggs.
- 10 dishes that use Excellent Eggs.
Tip: Once a chicken’s egg quality increases, such as from Normal Egg to Good Egg, that chicken will no longer produce Normal Eggs.
If you plan to unlock the X Egg recipe and want to prepare for situations where your chickens no longer produce the required egg quality, keep some lower-quality eggs in your refrigerator.
Alternatively, you can purchase a new chicken from PoPoultry.
Selling Livestock
Unwanted animals can be sold back to Lillia. The selling price depends on the quality of the products produced by the animal.
