When you enter the laboratory, you find Daryl quietly chuckling to himself. As soon as he notices your presence, he immediately asks what you want.
- Response 1A: “Just saying hi.“
Daryl says he is not interested in small talk and asks you to leave. He explains that he is about to begin an experiment that he believes will have a major impact on his research. You then leave the laboratory.
- Response 1B: “What’s going on…?“
Daryl explains that he is researching the potential of solar energy. According to him, if his research succeeds, solar power could be used to supply electricity to the entire valley—or even the entire world.
Daryl then shows you a device he has built to store solar energy. He says that you are about to witness a scientific miracle.
After switching on the device, Daryl begins observing the results. At first, everything appears to be working as expected.

You quickly leave the laboratory before anything happens. Not long after making it outside, you hear Daryl say that something has gone wrong with his experiment.
Moments later, a loud explosion erupts from inside the laboratory. Daryl grumbles that he still needs to make a few improvements before the experiment can be considered a success.

Not long after the device is activated, it begins to emit smoke. Daryl realizes that something is wrong.
A few moments later, a massive explosion destroys the solar energy storage unit and causes every light in the laboratory to go out.
Daryl quickly restores the power, then explains that the device still requires several refinements before his experiment can be considered successful.
