Thomas’ Request is not an official festival, but rather an annual event that takes place every year on Winter 2.
In the morning, Mayor Thomas will visit your house and explain that he has been boasting about Mineral Town to the mayors of neighboring towns.
To prove his claims, he asks for your help in finding a specific item before nightfall.
If you refuse his request, you will lose 10 FP with Thomas. If you accept, he will tell you which item he needs.
Possible Requested Items
The requested item is selected randomly from the following list:
- AEPFE Apple
- Black Grass
- Bracelet
- Diamond
- Golden Egg
- Green Pepper
- Matsutake Mushroom
- Mochi
- Moonstone
- White Grass
If Thomas requests an item that is difficult or impossible for you to obtain at the time, you can reload a save from the previous night or the morning auto-save to reroll his request.
Delivering the Item
Thomas will return to your farmhouse at 7:00 PM and wait outside until 8:00 PM.
If you successfully obtain the requested item, give it directly to Thomas from your rucksack. If you fail to hand over the item before he leaves, you will lose 10 FP with him.
Keep in mind that Thomas only accepts the exact item he requested. For example:
- If he asks for an AEPFE Apple, a regular apple will not be accepted.
- If he asks for a raw ingredient, a cooked dish made from that ingredient will not be accepted either.
Reward
As a reward for helping him, Thomas will give you a piece of Gold Lumber.
Gold Lumber functions the same as regular Lumber, but it will never rot when placed on your farm.
Gold Lumber and the Original Game Reference
When presenting the reward, Thomas explains that placing Gold Lumber on your farm will not make the villagers jealous.
This line is a reference to the original Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town for the Game Boy Advance, where placing Gold Lumber on your farm caused villagers to complain every day until it was removed.
In the remake, this negative effect has been completely removed.
Aside from this event, Gotts also sells Gold Lumber at the Workshop for 100,000 G per piece.
Tips
- Always accept Thomas’ request to avoid losing Friendship Points.
- Keep a variety of rare items in storage so you are prepared if they are requested.
- If Thomas asks for an item that cannot currently be obtained, reload your save to receive a different request.
- Make sure to return home before 8:00 PM so you do not miss Thomas’ visit.
- The Gold Lumber from this event is free and never rots, making it far more economical than purchasing it from Gotts.
- Do not attempt to give substitute items or cooked versions of the requested item, as Thomas will reject them.
